do i have to bottom paint my boat every year If the boat was new last year and the dealer applied the bottom paint it is probably ablative, call them and ask. there are two types of ablative bottom paint , one is good for multiple seasons and one is not. my money is on the paint that is not, again ask the dealer i'm sure he will be more than happy to answer you. ed: handn. Every year when i get the boat out the boat dealer says i should get 2 coats of bottom paint. i keep it in salt water and haven't had any issiues. i am just tired of paying high prices if my paint is ok. do you think it really needs 2 coats every year?.
