Without a captain, you have to stop your boat and sit and wait for the sea monster to get within firing range. (unless you have a friend on board controling the cannon, while you steer the ship.) all the ships upgraded from epheria sailboat allow you to sail (move your ship) and shoot cannons at the same time. bdo sailing/vell discord.
