Re: my center console build and plans looks good, if it rots it will be from the bottom, you could add a footer to sit it on thats waterproof to prevent it wicking. standard pontoon helm cn200 console marine plywood. the standard boat console is the star attraction in every boat that has a motor.& have you noticed how yours is.. I'd like to build a center console boat. 19-23 foot. most likely strip/composite construction. probably outboard powered. needs to be a good looking boat. the glen-l designs just don't have that sexiness. the landing school builds one that was on the cover of this year's motorboat mag put out by the folks at woodenboat. very nice looking boat.. Building the steering console for my 24-foot boat. frame is two by twos and face is 5/8 plywood. sides are quarter inch plywood. will be using 4 oz cloth to fiberglass..

Re: my center console build and plans boater45, check your pm. kukiebs, for this console, i think fiberglass strand mat should be sufficient. doesn't really require that much strength. it's cheaper than woven. you can get 3' x 3' sheets at walmart for $4..
